The 12th International Conference on Salt Lake Research Successfully Held in China

The 12th International Conference on Salt Lake Research was successfully held in Langfang of Hebei Province, China on July 14th-18th, 2014. It was jointly organized by the International Society for Salt Lake Research (ISSLR) and the Institute of Mineral Resources, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences. Over 300 delegates from more than 10 countries and regions were present at the Conference.

 

With the theme of “Salt Lake in the Future, Global Sustainable Research and Development”, the topical sessions of the Conference were organized on the 1) Global Change and Salt Lake Record; 2) Salt Lake Ecology and Biological Resources; 3) Geochemistry and Biochemistry; 4) Salt Lakes, Surrounding Environments and Environmental Management; 5) Salt Geology and Resource Prospection; 6) Chemistry and Chemical Engineering; 7) General Issues. 

 

Meeting participants presented about 100 talks and the same number of posters. The extended abstracts of the conference were published in the Acta Geologica Sinica (Vol. 88, Supp. 1, 2014).

Two post-conference field trips were organized to salt lakes respectively in Qinghai Province on July 19th-25th and in Shanxi Province on July 19th -21st.
