CAGS Geoscientists Set off for China's 32nd Antarctic Scientific Expedition

On December 26, 2015, Prof. Xu Gang, Research Fellow from the Institute of Geomechanics, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences (CAGS), set off for the country’s 32nd scientific expedition to Antarctic together with the other members from the first batch of the national expedition team.

 

Altogether 5 geoscientists from the Institute of Geomechanics, CAGS will join the national expedition team to Antarctic in three batches, namely Prof. Zhao Yue, Prof. Zhang Shuanhong, Prof. Xu Gang, Prof. Pei Junling and Dr. Chen Hong.

 

In line with the research targets of the scientific projects funded by the State Oceanic Administration and the National Natural Science Foundation, the above 5 CAGS geoscientists are entrusted during this expedition with the missions to carry out geological investigations at Fildes Peninsula near Changcheng Station and Victoria Land on the Ross Sea, and conduct joint geological field work at South Shetland Islands together with geoscientists from Chilean Antarctic Institute.
