The First Drilling Hole in the Karst Peak Forest of the Middle and Lower Reaches of Xijiang River Successfully Yielding Water
Recently, the project team of “1:50000 Hydrogeological Environmental Geological Survey in the Karst Peak Forest of the Middle and Lower Reaches of Xijiang River” undertaken by CAGS Institute of Karst Geology successfully drilled water out through the first drilling hole in Taiping county of Chongzuo town in Guangxi province. The drill goes deep into 92m with water inflow up to 480 tons per day that can solve the drinking problems for more than 300 people in Jiangtong village and irrigate more than 1000 mu sugarcane field.
After about 20-days-long implementation, the groundwater has been discovered and drilled successfully, which has not only solved the 70-years-long drinking problem in Jiangtong village but also provided cardinal parameter for evaluating the water-bearing capacity of the second thin limestone layer of Bei Si Group in the Triassic Period.
