Li Jinfa Met with Foreign Experts Employed by China MNR Lab of Deep Earth Science and Technology

[ 02-01-2023 ]

Dr. Li Jinfa, Vice Minister for Geological Survey, Ministry of Natural Resources, PRC and President of China Geological Survey, met with Prof. Hans Thybo, ILP Chair, Fellow of European Academy of Sciences and Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters, and Prof. Irina Aretemieva, President-Elect of European Geosciences Union, Fellow of European Academy of Sciences and Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters, employed full-time by China MNR Lab of Deep Earth Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as SinoProbe Lab), at the CGS headquarter recently.

Li Jinfa, on behalf of China Geological Survey (CGS) and Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences (CAGS), extended a warm welcome to Prof. Hans Thybo and Prof. Irina Aretemieva for their joining in SinoProbe Lab. Li informed that CAGS, in the stage of reform and transformation, was faced with a major opportunity for the implementation and strengthening of SinoProbe Lab. We are convinced that the joining of two top experts is of great significance to enhance the scientific research level of SinoProbe lab, promote deep earth exploration and scientific research, and expand the international influence of SinoProbe lab. CAGS will provide necessary conditions for the experts during their stay in China to ensure a smooth development of scientific research cooperation.

Prof. Hans Thybo and Prof. Irina Aretemieva expressed their honor to join SinoProbe Lab, looking forward to working closely with Chinese counterparts to make contribution to the development of deep earth science. They spoke highly of SinoProbe Lab for its fruitful and innovative achievements on deep earth science and technology, enabling China to become one of the advanced countries on deep earth scientific research and exploration. They envisioned that China’s strength in the field of deep exploration would be continuously improved through major cooperative projects, and SinoProbe Lab would be built into a world-class scientific research institution in five years.

SinoProbe Lab, founded in 2020, adhering to the principle of open cooperation and talent-inclusiveness, is open to the international geoscience community to recruit international experts and young Chinese talents.
