List of the Top Ten Scientific and Technological Advances of CAGS in 2023 Released
The Selection Meeting of the Top Ten Scientific and Technological Advances of Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences(CAGS) in 2023 was held on January 9, 2024. The judging panel is composed of nineteen well-known academicians and experts in China, including Academicians of Chinese Academy of Science such as Prof. Wang Chengshan, Prof. Yang Jingsui and Prof. Li Xianhua, and Academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering such as Prof. Wu Qiang and Prof. Mao Jingwen.
Initiated in 2004, the selection of the Top Ten Scientific and Technological Advances of CAGS has been highly recognized by CAGS researchers and colleagues in the field of geoscience as an influential brand activity. In total twenty-four items of annual research achievements were recommended after the primary selection. In line with the features of geological survey of being basic, public and strategic, the recommended 24 items focus on the key areas such as basic geology, mineral geology, clean energy, carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, and exploration technologies etc. Following a procedure of on-site oral defense and follow-up selection, the judging panel finalized the list of the Top Ten.
