Geoanalysis Center

[ 05-12-2015 ]
National Research Center for Geoanalysis (NRCGA, former Institute of Rock and Mineral Analysis, Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources) was established in 1978. NRCGA merges the scientific research and analytical service into an organic whole. The missions of NRCGA are: to advance geoanalysis science and address a long-standing need to provide measurement and analytical support for the nation’s geoscience research, geological survey, mineral resource exploration and evaluation, and to carry out the research on geoanalytical standardization. It has 106 staff members, among them being 94 scientific researchers with 14 professors, 30 associate professors and senior engineers. A research team with 13 doctors and 22 masters consists of the backbone of the scientific and technological contingents.

Main Research Fields:

  • Eco-environmental geochemistry —— to study the effects of environ- mental pollution and mechanism on ecological environment, to establish the analysis and supporting system for environmental remedition and to carry out the prediction on the future developing trend in ecological and geochemical environment.
  • Study on geoanalytical techniques and methods——including geoanalytical techniques and methods in organic and inorganic analysis, speciation analysis and isotope analysis for geoscience research, geological survey, mineral resource exploration and evaluation.
  • Study on geoanalysis standardization —— including preparation of geological standard reference materials, drawing up geoanalytical method standards and technological specifications used in geological laboratories.
  • Analytical services —— providing analytical services over 700 organic and inorganic items (including major, minor, trace and ultra-trace components) in 72 kinds of natural materials from geology, metallurgy, non-ferrous metal, environmental protection, constructional materials, agriculture, petroleum and gas, biomedicine areas.
  • Modern Analytical Techniques in NRCGA —— NRCGA is equipped with a large number of advanced analytical instruments, including Inductively Coupled Plasma Maas Spectrometer (ICP-MS), Laser Ablation High Resolution Inductively Coupled Plasma Maas Spectro- meter (LA-HR-ICP-MS), Gas Chromatograph / Liquid Chromatograph Inductively Coupled Plasma Maas Spectrometer (GC/LC- ICP-MS), Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometer (ICP-AES), X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometers (XRF), Neutron Activation Analysis system (NAA), Atomic Absorption Spectrometers (AAS), Atomic Fluorescence Spectrometers (AFS), Molecular Fluorescence Spectro- meter (MFS), UV/VIS Spectrophotometer, Polarograph and Ion-Selective Electrode (POL, ISE), Ion Chromatograph (IC), Total carbon and total organic carbon(TC and TOC)analysis system, Total  nitrogen analysis (TN) system, γ-Energy Spectrometer, Radioactive Gas Analysis system, Fourier Transform-Raman Spectrometer (FT-RAMAN), Fourier Transform-Infrared Spectrometer (FT-IR), Gas Chromatograph (GC), Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS), High Performance Liquid Chromatographs (HPLC), Supercritical Fluid Extraction Chromatograph (SFC), Capillary Electrophoresis Analysis(CE), Microwave digestion/extraction system, Thin Layer Chromatograph (TLC), Acceleration Solvent Extraction (ASE) system, Gel Permeation Chromatograph (GPC), Gas Isotope Mass Spectrometer, Isotope Mass Spectrometer (MAT 253) etc..
